My girlfriends and I had an excellent experience at Guaca Mole last night. Our award-winning chefs have created a menu that typifies the best of Mexican cuisine while still bringing their own inimitable style and personality to the plate. It's a small detail, but the spacing between tables and walkways is generous so you don't feel cramped or likely to knock into someone by accident. They also gave me a steak knife with my burrito, but they could have given me a butter knife because it was so tender. We also started with their queso, which was pretty common to other places but still good.
It was decorated super pretty too! I'm hitting myself over the head for waiting to so long to make it here and I won't make that mistake again. Reservation was for a high top table which they did have 2 open but needed to be cleaned. They have a pretty cool drink menu with some creative mixes. I cannot say enough great things and it's definitely a must try if you're in the area. Their service is always top notch. I usually always try it when it's on the menu. I opted for the chicken nachos and wasn't disappointed in the least.
One of them was very sweet. Once I tasted it, I realized this was no cheap meat. Portion sizes are very large. Chunky avocado with grilled corn and sweet pickled red onions. I wanted to try everything and can't wait to go back! I started with the Yucateco guacamole. The only down I found on this guacamole is that it is prepared earlier in the day and you can't get it without the peppers. The margarita was pretty strong, but it did not have that strong alcohol taste.
Can't wait to return soon! Maybe I just need to share it with friends to fully enjoy myself. Also, Ruben our waiter was very attentive, kind, and hustled hard. I asked the hostess why the wait would be so long with reservations and she told me that they had been seating walk-ins ahead of reserved seating. She sat us at a reg table. About 10 minutes after I arrived and checked in, a gentleman walked up the stand and checked in for his reservation, which was also at 1:00. The prices are in line with the quality and I had no complaints in that area.
Even though everyone was stuffed, we decided we had to try their dessert. Guaca Mole is a slightly upscale Mexican Restaurant. I've met up with friends for dinner here several times and we always have a dynamite experience. Wife had spicy chicken tacos. Chances are you'll be taking home leftovers.
Our server was so observant about one of us celebrating a birthday, that without being asked, he brought out a trio of homemade ice cream topped with a candle. Arrive at 12:50 to see a full restaurant as expected , because its mothers day. I used to get the Carne Asada until I tried the Carnitas and was on heaven, I've never had anything like them. This, combined with typically excellent service, is what keeps our family coming back. Disaster, we had reservations for mother's day at 1pm. Honestly, I'd give it a 4.
Started w Yucateco guacamole and smoked fish taquitos, which were great starters. They were cooked perfect, and was a huge serving. Great service, great atmosphere, great drinks, great food, great prices. Since we are still relatively new to Louisville with no family even remotely close by, and her birthday party will be a small affair at home, we thought we'd go somewhere where our daughter could have a group of people sing to her she loves music and is happiest when people are singing. Our friendly server was Jose and he recommended the tequila, blood orange and pineapple cocktail La Roja which was spot on. It's a little out of the way for me to come here, but that's probably for the best because I would go all the time otherwise! And it's not your average Mexican joint, it has a lot of uniqueness to it. Hands-down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Louisville! Had been wanting to try this restaurant because others in this restaurant group were very good and reviews had been pretty good for this place.
Their prices reflect that, but they're generous with their portions as well. Since I got mine fried, the batter wasn't too thick and had a light crisp texture. We always start with chips and salsa, which includes a variety of 3 homemade salsas, each with their own unique flavor and spice level. The servers were fast and very friendly. I had to get a to-go-box, and will definitely be having yummy leftovers for dinner. When they brought it to me, it was a chocolate one and I was disappointed. We finally, after much arguing and frustration were seated at 1:45 pm, 45 minutes after our reservation time.
One offered a salty crunch with the pepitas and pork rinds, the other one was spicy, and the last one offered sweetness with the pickled red onions. Armando was our server and he was excellent- attentive and made delicious recommendations. My favorite is their swirl marg- I'm not even a huge fan of margaritas but this one has all margaritas beat! Customers are free to download and save these images, but not use these digital files watermarked by the Zomato logo for any commercial purpose, without prior written permission of Zomato. The chips and salsa are a must the guac is good but the 3 salsas are better. The inside is open, bright, and cheery. I'm not fan of the hot but the awesome thing was I couldn't taste the peppers in their traditional version. I will definitely be back After asking the hotel clerk where to eat, we went to Guaca Mole on her advice.
