I decided to install game again but this time I didn't use all expansions Ambitions, Fast Lane, High End Loft, World Adventures, Late Night, Pets, Supernatural, University Life and Island Paradies is what I used and I followed all instructions and it worked it didn't crash but I didn't play for a long time and if I have more problems I'll update. After installing the latest Windows update or update package, restart your computer and try the game again to see if it works. Just thought maybe it would offer some insight into my problem. If after checking it is still not working simply e-mail the customer support team for the game and they will be happy to help you. What ultimately helped us was to uninstall-reinstall. I still need to see specs, please.
Thanks Moderator edit: good to hear that! Which ones specifically should I follow? Backing up the Electronic Arts folder or the Sims 3 folder won't help Sims 3 from crashing. It is an annoyance but save files can become if you turn off your console while it is saving your progress. I can't uninstall and reinstall everything because I don't have all of my games any more so that would just suck. I am able to play but I get a tempopray freeze every couple minutes. I installed Sims 3 Seasons.
When I did, I installed Seasons, cracked it and clicked the Sims 3 Launcher to start playing. Developers will over time which will help with bugs and fixes, crashing errors, balance issues and also add additional content. I am going to try this as I have been having the exact same problem since I installed seasons and I tried everything you did. But if I can figure it out I'll post back again. If you don't try, you never know what would've happened if you did.
Just over the past month or so it had a couple crashes every now and then, now it's within the first 2-5 minutes of playing the game. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. It's been pretty helpful for Hubby and I. Ever since the update when Maxis came its been crashing. I even un-installed and re-installed it! And then again with a new, clean install.

I keep restarting it but the same thing happens, although the time Sims works for keeps getting lower and lower until it hardly loads. And it still uses 3. There is no easy solution to fixing a as the mark travels so deep through the disc it often causes permanent damage. I got to go to work now, so I wont be able to respond until the evening. I guess all we can do is hope electronic arts finds a solution for this problem. But I haven't tested it since I don't have a Mac to see if the above steps unique to a particular game are covered in a 3rd-party utility. Any other suggestions on the meantime? A compromise can fix all of this.
